In the first quarter of 2023, the sandbox game category on iOS in the Netherlands showed varying performance across the top 5 applications. Here’s a closer look at the trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for these games based on data from Sensor Tower.

Roblox experienced a notable decline in weekly revenue, starting at around $159K in late December 2022 and dropping to approximately $75K by the end of March 2023. Weekly downloads also saw a downward trend, beginning at 14.3K and ending at around 6.9K. Active users fluctuated slightly but maintained a relatively steady count, starting at 309.7K and ending at 289.4K.

Minecraft showed a consistent pattern in weekly downloads, hovering around 140 to 170. Revenue saw a gradual decrease from $10K in late December to about $5K by the end of March. Active users also saw a decline from approximately 54.9K to 46.7K over the same period.

Growtopia had a stable yet low performance in terms of weekly downloads, ranging from 10 to 45. Revenue peaked at $1.3K in early February but generally stayed below $500 for most of the quarter. Active users were consistent, starting at 317 and ending at 240.
